Hi

Thank you for your suggestion and sorry for not replying sooner.

While your idea is good, we have decided not to implement your
suggestion fully at the current time. However, we have implemented some
of your ideas (namely letting other variables depend on the NAME variable).

My primary concern for fully implementing your idea is symlinks in
/etc/rcX.d/ are named differently than /etc/init.d/ and would cause
inconsistencies between starting it from /etc/init.d/ and if started
from a run-level change (or during boot).
