Bug#573482: maven2: DAV Wagon not included - Cannot find wagon which supports the requested protocol: dav

Package: maven2
Version: 2.2.1-1
Severity: important

DAV wagon is not included with Debian & Ubuntu's maven2 package although
it's included in Maven 2.x/3.x distribution by default.

Attempting to deploy to a WebDAV repository will result in the following
error message :

Error deploying artifact: Unsupported Protocol: 'dav': Cannot find wagon
which supports the requested protocol: dav

The latest DAV Wagon extension is (as of this bug report):

            <extension>
                <groupId>org.apache.maven.wagon</groupId>
                <artifactId>wagon-webdav-jackrabbit</artifactId>
                <version>1.0-beta-6</version>
            </extension>

A workaround is described here:
