FWIW, http://updates.jenkins-ci.org/download/plugins/maven-plugin/ may offer the right version to be picked, i.e. currently for unstable's version, http://updates.jenkins-ci.org/download/plugins/maven-plugin/1.509.2/maven-plugin.hpi

Btw, don't update it, once installed, or you'll get Java exceptions, if I'm not mistaken.
