Package: liblog4j2-java-doc
Version: 2.0~beta9-1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation?
I tried to run eclipse, and got an error "Unrecognized VM option 'UseStringDeduplication'"
Turns out eclipse-4.6 requires java 8, and default-jre on Debian stable is java7.
This package dependency chain unnecessarily causes default-jre to be installed, causing default java (/etc/alternatives) to be java 7.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I uninstalled this package for now, there's some update-alternatives thing if I really needed to have this documentation installed, but I am not installing jre (and jdk!) version 7, and its documentation!, just to get liblog4j2-java-doc installed!!!
* What was the outcome of this action?
I removed liblog4j2-java-doc to solve the bloat.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
liblog4j2-java-doc should be installable without depending on default-java!
Thanks :)
Zenaan
