[Pkg-javascript-devel] Help with packaging a NodeJS application

Hello everybody,
I've been invited here by Jonas Smedegaard, so blame him for me spamming this
list :)

I'd like to package an application for pkg-osm, TileMill [0]. It's a NodeJS
application, which uses npm -- and this is a whole new world to me.

[0]: http://mapbox.com/tilemill

All I've understood is: npm installs libraries taken from an online "registry"
into ~/.node_libraries/..., and thus it's unsuitable as-is to be used in
buildds. Maybe it needs some configuration, which I don't know. It also triggers
some strange errors which I can't debug, but that's another question.

Is there any package in Debian which uses npm at build-time which I can look
at? I didn't find any with "build-rdeps npm".

Also, I see that there are very few packaged node libraries in Debian, so I
suppose I must package all those before uploading tilemill -- and I'm a bit
scared by all this javascript :)

I don't even know what precise questions to ask -- I suppose I just need someone
to point me to the right direction.

Thanks for any help,
David
