Good idea to ask.

I just blindly assumed that wasn't possible - as I see no sense in 
current behavior.

Oh - I believe Alioth admins discourage the use of multiple accounts: 
Please consider phasing out your old guest account.  There is probably 
some mention of such migration at the Alioth Wiki page(s), unless I am 
mistaken about that being an issue.

I don't see how we in this team can do anything about eventual issues 
with access rights at Alioth.  I suggest taking it up with the Alioth 
admins (as it sounds liek you've done already), rather than here.

I haven't tried, but there should be nothing wrong with simply putting 
out git repositories in a subdirectory at collab-maint.
