Did you test it with a non-existing /etc/jed-init.d/? 
If I try the code in postrm.sh in a shell environment, I still get

We can be sure, that the unstable jed-extra will be broken by any Jed
version using SLang2! This is why 0.99.17 never made it to unstable.

So we really have to concentrate on jed-extra now.
