Package: virt-manager
Version: 0.8.7-1
Severity: important
Tags: wheezy
My local user belongs to the group libvirt and I launch virt-manager. I create
a new virtual machine. When I choose the default "Virtual Network (default):
NAT" and click "Finish" I receive the following stack trace.
Unable to complete install: 'internal error Process exited while reading
console log output: char device redirected to /dev/pts/8
open /dev/kvm: Permission denied
failed to initialize KVM: Operation not permitted
'

libvirtError: internal error Process exited while reading console log output:
char device redirected to /dev/pts/8
open /dev/kvm: Permission denied

The permissions of /dev/kvm have group rw for libvirt
crw-rw----+ 1 root libvirt 10, 232 Jul 28 12:47 /dev/kvm
If I change the permissions of /dev/kvm to 777 I can create a virtual machine.
I would prefer not to fall back to world writable permissions to make a new VM.
