Hi,

I just installed 1.4.9-4, and it overwrote my hand-customised version of
/var/www/index.html *again*, so I think this bug should be reopened:

% apt-cache policy lighttpd
lighttpd:
  Installed: 1.4.9-4
  Candidate: 1.4.9-4
  Version table:
 *** 1.4.9-4 0
        500 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/main Packages
	100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
% md5sum /var/www/index.html
158f719a1a919480f04fa6f38ebd731d /var/www/index.html

Please let me know if I can provide more information to help you.

I believe that the Apache packages also create this file for an initial
installation, but preserve it later -- perhaps there's a trick that
you can use for the lighttpd package too?

Best wishes,

-Steve
