the version of ltspfs in debian-edu's etch-based release is a bit old,
but that part of the code hasn't changed much, so it should be possible
to backport the hooks feature from the current versions without too much
difficulty.

the hook to add kde icons should work then, and i can include it in the
examples.  i don't think it would be a good idea to install kde icons
hook by default, as it messes with files in the user's home directory.

i should be able to work on getting an upload prepared within the next
week or two, or point someone in the right direction if they want it
sooner.
