Maybe LyX gets this information when it does the initial configuration chec=
k?

In the current CVS i found unter lib/Changelog the following entry
2005-02-17  Jean-Marc Lasgouttes  <lasgouttes@lyx.org>

        * configure.m4: do not use -swap option for gv (it does not work
        with latest versions).
But searching through the whole CVS-Snapshot still gives me the following h=
its
lib/configure.m4:  ghostview) PS_VIEWER=3D"$GHOSTVIEW -swap" ;;
lib/configure:  ghostview) PS_VIEWER=3D"$GHOSTVIEW -swap" ;;

So I am still a little bit puzzled. But maybe it helps you. Or shall I ask =
