I do not think that this is a policy issue, it's just lintian not being clever enough. If lintian is still not smart enough to handle this case, then you can use an override: https://lintian.debian.org/manual/section-2.4.html I think the desktop file should still be in the lyx package though, since you can have lyx-common installed without lyx. -- Pelle From nick.andrik at gmail.com Tue Oct 14 12:32:16 2014 From: nick.andrik at gmail.com (Nikos Andrikos) Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2014 14:32:16 +0200 Subject: [Pkg-lyx-devel] half-backed 2.1.2 upload In-Reply-To: <543D0D59.3060303@dsv.su.se> References: <20140926093812.GB6567@timegate.de> <20141001103413.71b396d9@mydesk> <201410132104.11734.Georg.Baum@post.rwth-aachen.de> <543D0D59.3060303@dsv.su.se> Message-ID: 2014-10-14 13:47 GMT+02:00 Per Olofsson : > 2014-10-13 21:04, Georg Baum skrev: > >> b) What is the appropriate place to put the lyx.png, lyx.svg and >>> >lyx.desktop files? >>> >As it is now, the situation is like this: >>> >debian/lyx/usr/share/applications/lyx.desktop >>> >debian/lyx/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/lyx.svg >>> >debian/lyx-common/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/lyx.png >>> > >>> >In the past, lyx.png used to be like this: >>> >debian/lyx-common/usr/share/lyx/images/lyx.png >>> >debian/lyx-common/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/lyx.png -> >>> >../../../../ lyx/images/lyx.png >>> > >>> >I believe that at least lyx.svg and lyx.png should be in the same >>> >package. I agree with that, since we do not want to be in a situation where we install .desktop, but we don't have the actual binary installed. About the icons, I guess they should go with the .desktop file, since this is the reason /usr/share/icons/hicolor exists. I will try to update my changes and then upload them so that they can be checked publicly. Cheers, Nick -- =Do- N.AND -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It might be text related to an older version of the fonts. There used to be a separate source package called "latex-xft-fonts" which included them. So perhaps we can remove that text. OTOH, Basil Malyshev is not the sole author of the fonts. He converted them from other formats. The question is if the original fonts were in the public domain or if they also require copyright notices. The BaKoMa fonts are clearly a derivative work of the original fonts. -- Pelle From nhuunn001 at gmail.com Tue Oct 14 17:35:13 2014 From: nhuunn001 at gmail.com (nyu kip) Date: Tue, 14 Oct 2014 18:35:13 +0100 Subject: [Pkg-lyx-devel] =?utf-8?b?0JLRiyDQstGL0LjQs9GA0LDQu9C4INC70L4=?= =?utf-8?b?0YLQtdGA0LXRjiDQntGA0LPQsNC90LjQt9Cw0YbQuNGPINCe0LHRitC1?= =?utf-8?b?0LTQuNC90LXQvdC90YvRhSDQndCw0YbQuNC5INCyINGA0LDQt9C80LU=?= =?utf-8?b?0YDQtSAxLDIg0LzQu9C9LiDQtNC+0LvQu9Cw0YDQvtCyINCh0KjQkA==?= Message-ID: ????????? ??????????? ????? ?? ????????????, ??????? ???????? ?????????? ?????? ? ???-??? ?? ??? ??????: unitednationnss at excite.co.uk ; ????????????? ? ??????? 1,2 ???. ????. ??? Ah, now I understand. The part about bluesky is outdated. It referred to the postscript versions of the fonts, which are no longer redistributed with LyX. The current fonts are: cmex10.ttf bakoma cmmi10.ttf bakoma cmr10.ttf bakoma cmsy10.ttf bakoma esint10.ttf esint eufm10.ttf bakoma msam10.ttf bakoma msbm10.ttf bakoma rsfs10.ttf rsfs stmary10.ttf stmary wasy10.ttf wasy esint was converted from the postscript version at http://www.ctan.org/tex- archive/fonts/ps-type1/esint/. rsfs was converted from the postscript version at http://www.ctan.org/tex- archive/fonts/rsfs/type1/. stmary was converted from http://mirrors.ctan.org/fonts/stmaryrd/ps- type1/hoekwater/stmary10.pfb. wasy refers to the old latex-xft-fonts debian package, so it should inherit the copyright from there. This information is all in ReadmeBaKoMa4LyX.txt, with the exception of rsfs, which was forgotten and which I will add soon. This is only the LyX specific part of the license information, the licenses of the original postscript fonts are on ctan. I hope that this information is enough, if not please ask. But again I made a mistake :(. I did not increase the urgency to medium and just realized that the release team kinda changed the migration policy for the freeze date. I'm not sure at the moment if I can override that urgency level post upload and I do not like to reupload -4 just to bump the urgency level. Otherwise it could be that I've to engage with the release time later on to get it unblocked. I'd really like to have this polished package released with jessie instead of my -2 package. After reading https://release.debian.org/jessie/freeze_policy.html I submited https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=767061 Let's see if that's acceptable. If the release team decides to be strict on the release policy it won't be accepted which would a shame. While I am certain you did it with the best of intentions, we set a deadline for including arbitrary changes and your upload of lyx/2.1.2-3 seems to have missed said deadline. Sadly, the changes between the current version of lyx in testing and lyx/2.1.2-3 are /not/ compatible with our freeze guidelines. Accordingly, I will also have to decline giving an unblock for lyx.
