The tool is called dget. :-)

I'm also do not have a very strong opinion about this.  The main point
is that there is a repository at all.  We decided to drop the old SVN
(even if history is lost which I do not consider a great loss because
there is snapshot.debian.org) and choose Git as the future Vcs.  So just
decide either for creating the Git repository in pkg-mc project or do it
in collab-maint.  Both is fine - the doer decides (and announces her to
get others informed).

I have not read all the mails of this thread.  Just tell me if you want
me to test and sponsor the package which is currently at mentors and
I'll do so tomorrow.  I have tested  mc 4.8.1 in the flavour of the
debdiff provided by Maarten in Launchpad (thanks in any case for
preparing) and can confirm that it works flawlessly for me.  Dimitry, it
might make sense to read the mailing list archive thread starting at

to learn about the discussion which happened here on this list and
might give you some insight into the current affair.
