Bug#554971: purging hibernate resolves the problem

I had a similar problem after upgrading to this version. It was not only
preventing proper installation of mdadm, but also apache, samba, and
other packages (see ERRORS below).

Through trial and error, I found that I could get mdadm (and all other
looped packages) to finish installation by purging hibernate and uswsusp
from the system.

In particular, the /etc/init.d/hibernate script must be removed from the
system. Once this is done, aptitude will be able to complete all pending
half-configured packages.
