	Hi all!

Now that the stable releases of mediawiki have switched to 1.5, we are
considering the upgrade of debian packages.

The tricky part of this upgrade is that it breaks the database compatibility
and some configuration parameters, and any one who wnat to upgrade must first
upgrade its DB and its config file. Also, the DB upgrade needs files that are
in the 1.5 source and can take up to hours.

This is why we are slowly but seriously preparing this upgrade.

The question today is the way we should prepare it. They are many different
way that can be used, and we thought that at least, we should ask you, the
final users, for an advice. Here are the possibilities that have been
sugested:

-- Simple mediawiki package upgrade -- not clever it seems..
-- Set a new mediawiki-1.5 package with a lot of informations about the
upgrade that may be manually installed when ready for the upgrade
-- Isolate the files used for DB upgrade to a mediawiki-1.5-upgrade-tools
package that would allow one to work on the upgrade of a backup DB, while the
main wiki would remain RO and also set up a mediawiki-1.5 package to
installed when everything would be ok

What do you think would be easier for your upgrade?
