Knoppix is not Debian. I do not remember what the current installer
does, but the last one I seen did set the Default distribution to
"testing" while there have been packages installed from Sid which was
quite confusing.

Why don't you set LANG=3DC or LC_MESSAGES=3DC when making bug reports?

Forget all of the above, the packages don't install on Testing because
of dependencies

Why do you need the -dev packages?

I have trouble following from that because of the ununderstandable
messages. Please just run "apt-get install mono monodevelop" and this
should pull a lot of required/interesting packages on your harddisk.
