i am unable to pinpoint the problem. removing the theme and reinstalling
it did not work. editing prefs.js manually did not work either. in the
end i removed my old ~/.mozilla and set up a new account. seemed less
trouble than finding out what exactly causes the problem since my mails
are stored on my imap-server, bookmarks could be retrieved from backup
and the few remaining prefs were quickly reentered.
i think i'll use iceweasel+icedove from now on anyway.
