Yes, first, please try if you can reproduce this with mozilla-thunderbird
too? 

Do you have extensions installed? Does it help to disable/uninstall them?

What kind of mail account are you using? (e.g. pop, imap) 

Does this happen on composing new mails too?

Does this happen when replying to any mail or just some mail?
