Just remove .mozilla/firefox/$profile/.parentlock.

Not here, not even when I kill -9.
My guess is that the filesystem you're using must somehow keep the file
lock on .parentlock. Can you run the following command when iceweasel
won't start, and send the /some/file here:
  strace -f -o /some/file iceweasel
