Bug#640331: iceweasel 6.0 - huge ram use

ok, since I also know nothing about XUL, i'll try disabling extensions one
by one, to see if at any point, that ram use falls to acceptable levels.

first try is ABP, since is the only common extension we (Leo and me) are
using.

the ram use looks stable at 720 Mb (lower than before, but not enough),
using gmail, google reader (showing a "random" tag), and the addons manager

ok. just disabled all addons (but NO safe mode, just disabled them). same
tabs. 447 Mb (looks stable).

trying to enable back ABP (but BEFORE restarting, so no addons actualy
enabled), memory rises to 649 Mb. what's happening here?? the extensions tab
was already open, but *switching to it *raised memory use from ~450 Mb to
~650 Mb.

ABP + addon compatibility reporter (same tabs), 477 Mb. ?!?!? no rise in
memory use if i go to extensions tab, or if i tell it to enable a "random"
one. (WITHOUT restarting)

plus auto pager and bartab* (same tabs), ~496 Mb *bartab is NOT officialy
comaptible with iceweasel 7.0. however, it works as expected.

now a rise: plus easy youtube video downloader, and element hidig helper for
ABP (same tabs) ~708 Mb. however, its not nearly to those almos 2 Gb that
used before.

disabling (only) the element hiding helper for APB doesn't help: 1.09 Gb
(same tabs).

enabling it back, and disabling the easy youtube video converter, gives me
~510 Mb.

ok, now i have to study, so i'll test more things later. but i can't help
thinking: *why, with some extensions, memory use falls?? I mean, if
everything works as it's supposed to be, I would expect no changes, or a
small rise (in memory use). *but a fall??

one last try (had to close it to read conky's data without iceweasel open):
same addons, just gmail: ~295 Mb (don't know if it would rise if I play
around, or if it's a stable measure.)
opening a blank tab rises it to 500 Mb. loading google reader, rises it
again to ~700. closing it, does nothing.

*side note: meory uses are givien by just looking at conky (so, whole
system's memory use is counted). if i close iceweasel, conky reads ~130 Mb
