That would seem to be a font problem. The bold characters come from one
font while the non-bold ones come from another. Although the fonts to
look similarly square, so maybe I'm wrong.

See the result I get here in the attached file. My fonts setting is very
different from yours, obviously.

Do you have some chinese fonts installed? I only have japanese fonts
(kochi-mincho, kochi-gothic, dejima-mincho)
