That's not correct, type 'reset\n' in the shell to restore your console.

Anyway, I found the solution: The libavformat in /usr/lib/cmov is
configure with --disable-vhook. As a workaround you can remove
/usr/lib/i686/cmov/libavformat.so.52.7.0 and the 'ffmpeg' binary should
work again.

I've applied a patch to the packaging branch that should fix this.
