In general yes. But I think we should first describe *why* we strip 
the source code and then describe the naming scheme in detail. This 
would mean changing the first and the second paragraph in 
README.Debian. Alternatively there could be a reference to the second 
paragraph from one of the early sentences in the first paragraph:
"Due to the MPEG encoders issue pointed out below, the ffmpeg 
packaging has seen many renames in the course of its history..."
(Note that it still says ffmpeg-free in the second paragraph).

And I propose another change in the third paragraph:
"The license for the whole work is the GPL, not the LGPL, because 
GPL-only parts of ffmpeg were activated. If you need LGPL versions of 
the libraries, please comment out the appropriate lines in 
`debian/confflags'."
