Yes, it proves good that we prepared the package to build on demand 
with internal and/or external encoders as easily as possible.

Yes, I'd love to see this happen! There are already some other 
packages in Debian that are easily expandable with further external 
features by minimal changes to the packaging. For my personal 
repository I use the following script which works just perfectly and I 
would really appreciate if I could extend and use it for ffmpeg as
