Well, the problem here are the amr libs. they are not free software, but
a reference implementation from 3gp, with no permission to actually
redistribute it without proper permission. That's pretty bad, but it
seems they (3gp) don't really care. linking ffmpeg against such
libraries is of course a no go for distributions like debian or ubuntu.

2 solutions I see so far:

 a. the altix folks have hacked some dlopen() support for the amr
libs. That patch is not really clean and would need to be improved
for upstream inclusion, but it seem to work somehow. We can consider
reviewing that patch and including it. Volunteers?

 b. hope that the free implementation in the ffmpeg-soc svn matures
quickly and gets included into ffmpeg properly.

 c. forward port the ffmpeg-soc implementation.

 d. just ignore the issue and claim that all is okay in France.

I think d. is the current approach debian-multimedia.org is
going. Dangerous, but fine with me.

since I have no really timeline for b., c. or a. might be an
option. volunteers?
