In short: subscribe to the pkg-multimedia mailing list, help out with
exsting bugs, send patches, and you'll be granted commit access.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you approached them in private or on a
public mailing list? Can you provide references to some public webarchive?

The TOOLS directory is part of the upstream source tarball. I'd really
like to have that maintained upstream, because I don't see anything
debian specific here. I am okay with having a preliminary version of the
scripts in debian until it gets accepted upstream, though.

I don't remember any mail from you on the mplayer-dev-eng mailing
list. Could you perhaps please submit your script there for the inital
review? I'd love to read some feedback from the upstream developers on
it.
