Bug#555016: Is libgl1-mesa-dev installed?

I created a pbuilder squeeze chroot.  When I ran

 apt-get build-dep vlc

within it, it installed libgl1-mesa-dev 7.6-1.  When I ran

 apt-get -b source vlc

it was successful.  What error do you see or does your subsequent
email mean that you've already determined that this is a problem
specific to your system?
