it is just a 'git merge' away.

however I really don't feel like uploading to debian, because I was told
last saturday two weeks ago on the phone (the ftpmaster had an internal
meeting, and asked my opinion on the patent matters) that they are
currently considering removing ffmpeg completely and all related
packages from debian.

This had led to a drastic decrease of my personal motivation to keep the
debian package in shape.

Since we have a rather large amount of ubuntu branches in our ffmpeg
repository, I'm currently considering moving the ubuntu branches to a
new git repository called 'ffmpeg-ubuntu' on git.debian.org. The
alternative would be to have a 'master-ubuntu' branch that is not
renamed every time a new version of ubuntu is released.

Opinions on this?
