There is a fork of rosegarden, oomidi from the openoctave project 
(www.openoctave.org). That version has removed the audio and notation 
parts and is focusing mainly on midi. It also has an improved matrix.

I think this is the best available midi sequencer for linux atm. There 
are no tar.gz packages yet, they seems to focus on building from source 
(gentoo).

Would be good imo to have this package in Debian, and it might not be 
very difficult to build because it's pretty the same as Rosegarden is 
afaik. Maybe the rosegarden package maintainer can also maintain oomidi.
