Decent DVD rippers?

lsdvd and vobcopy also fit the subject of this thread but not your 
extended meaning of it :-P

Personally I have lately tried using MLT (i.e. the CLI tool melt) for my 
transcoding needs, relying on the profiles built into that and Libav.

I find that approach to be more Unix-like, while still efficient (MLT 
deals with some details of e.g. two-pass processing).


There are a ton of do-it-all-for-you tools out there, which may or may 
not fit your exact needs.

That said, HandBrake seems the king among those do-it-all tools!
