hi,
mmm. I never liked the "DAW" definition neither in english or french 
since
it refers to a cloudy definition which can talk about pretty much 
everything
using computing to work with sound. Then, I usually try to avoid using 
this
"DAW" thing, hence my first proposition.

Anyway, I guess this is not the right place to complain about that and
it doesn't help with your remark :)

Based on a purely formal translation : good hint IOhannes, thanks.
Actually I'd go for "station de travail audio-numérique" which is what
people are using in french when translting "DAW". ("travail" is
translating "work" from "workstation" here).

So, I'd propose :
GenericName[fr]=Station de travail audionumérique Ardour 4
