[debian-mysql] Bug#552003: Control-W stopped working properly

Package: mysql-client-5.1
Version: 5.1.37-2
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/mysql

In the mysql command line client ("mysql"), control-W used to delete one
word, just like in bash. I have confirmed that e.g., lenny's version
worked. Now instead it deletes the entire line. This is very annoying...

Maybe this is related:

  * Replaced --without-readline to --with-libedit to configure options, as
    --without-readline doesn't seem to do the right thing anymore.

Lenny's version (5.0.51a-24+lenny2) links against readline according to ldd;
current does not.
