i was planning on having an initial package done back in august,
but that never happened for unrelated reasons.  as it stands now i have
a ./configure cmdline which should work, but only minimal work done
on the actual package.  there's also still the unresolved issue of
upgrade path for the 1.x users, though this is not critical to
having or not having 2.x as i think it's generally agreed that 2.x
will be in a seperate package at least initially.

i'm cc'ing this to the nagios packaging list, in the hopes that
others can chime in.
