From william.bon at caldera.com Wed Jan 7 13:46:01 2015 From: william.bon at caldera.com (William) Date: Wed, 07 Jan 2015 15:46:01 +0200 Subject: [Pkg-net-snmp-devel] Bug#774775: libsnmp-dev: Cannot install i386 package due to conflict with perl-base Message-ID: <20150107134601.1817.89304.reportbug@william-jessie> Package: libsnmp-dev Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? I tried to install the package libsnmp-dev for i386 architecture on my amd64 jessie installation. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? I reinstall a version of wheezy in a virtual machine, and upgraded it to a jessie, and tried to install libsnmp-dev:i386 without installing any other packages, in order to confirm that the situation wasn't due to an other installed package, and it hadn't any effect. * What was the outcome of this action? Installation of this package failed because it requires the installation of perl-base:i386 that conflicts with perl-base. Perl base couldn't be uninstalled due to many dependencies. * What outcome did you expect instead? I was expecting developpment libraries for libsnmp and headers files to install. -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.16.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) From piotr at prokocim.org Fri Jan 30 23:25:00 2015 From: piotr at prokocim.org (Piotr Gorski) Date: Sat, 31 Jan 2015 00:25:00 +0100 Subject: [Pkg-net-snmp-devel] Bug#776683: snmpd: SNMPd still tries to query PCI Bus Message-ID: <20150130232500.8360.17673.reportbug@vps52067.ovh.net> Package: snmpd Version: 5.7.2.1~dfsg-7 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, I have VPS form OVH running Debian Jessie. Few hours ago I've installed snmpd to monitor my network interfaces but snmpd can't start. When I try starting it with /etc/init.d/snmpd start it says: root at vps:~# /etc/init.d/snmpd restart [....] Restarting SNMP services::pcilib: Cannot open /proc/bus/pci After some research I've found that this bug was submitted to Debian Bugs as #745956 and #745919. Each bug is closed but error remains active making snmpd unusable on systems without PCI bus (each VPS server for example). -- System Information: Debian Release: 8.0 APT prefers testing-updates APT policy: (500, 'testing-updates'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-042stab102.9 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=pl_PL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: sysvinit (via /sbin/init) Versions of packages snmpd depends on: ii adduser 3.113+nmu3 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.55 ii libc6 2.19-13 ii libsnmp-base 5.7.2.1~dfsg-7 ii libsnmp30 5.7.2.1~dfsg-7 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian13+nmu1 snmpd recommends no packages.
