[pkg-ntp-maintainers] Bug#498992: ntp: Outdated logcheck file

Package: ntp
Version: 1:4.2.4p6+dfsg-2
Severity: normal

This is just to say that I'm getting this problem too, and also find it pretty annoying.

This bug has been there for almost a year!
Maybe this is because it's not entirely clear what's the best fix: update the logcheck rules or tweak ntpd itself. Still that does not explain the first 5+ months of inactivity.

So in the interest of actually serving the Debian users, I propose the following course of action:
 * Update the logcheck rule and release and updated package in the coming weeks.
 * In parallel, contact upstream and suggest lowering the priority of the message.
 * If upstream does lower the priority, then once that code makes it to Debian, remove the logcheck rule.
