[pkg-ntp-maintainers] Bug#599542: ntpdate takes 8 seconds; poll() returns ERESTART_RESTARTBLOCK

Package: ntpdate
Version: 1:4.2.6.p2+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

On Dell PE R710 with Debian Squeeze, ntpdate constantly takes about 8 seconds to finish. This never happens on similiar machines with Lenny, where ntpdate finishes under a second.

I ran strace ntpdate, output is attached. The time seems spent on poll() cals which return ERESTART_RESTARTBLOCK. I don't know what that means.
On another machine where ntpdate works correctly, poll() finishes successfuly (no ERESTART_RESTARTBLOCK).
