There probably is a very good reason why upstream rejected it.
The last time I saw this patch or something simular mentioned
was 2 years ago.

I think someone needs to be able to convince me that the quality of the
time for both setting the local clock and telling other people
what time is is is not affected at all before I consider applying
it.

And I really would perfer that something that touches the core of
things to go via upstream.  Maybe someone should contact them
again?
