[pkg-nvidia-devel] Bug#504585: nvidia-glx conflicts with xserver-xorg-core

Hello!

I have also run into the same problem.

For my system, a HP xw9400 with two Quadro FX 3700 cards, intended
to run two monitors in Xinerama, I need a newer xserver (>=1.5),
which is only available in Debian experimental.
After this change, I got the desired configuration running.

However, after installing xserver-xorg-core (2:1.5.2-1 and others)
from Debian experimental, I was only able to install
nvidia-glx_177.80-1_amd64.deb with dpkg --force-conflicts.
Of course, now I have a broken apt :-(

The type of hardware I have has been available since the beginning
of this year, and I cannot use it effectively without newer xserver
(and nvidia driver). Most likely, there are (or will be soon) many
more users experiencing the same problem.

As it appears that this problem is only in debian packaging (my system
is running well and is quite stable with this combination), I would
truly appreciate if this could be checked, and hopefully fixed.
I am ready to help with the testing.

Thanks in advance
- Nenad
