With today's systems it probably is. It would still be needed for etch I
believe.

I believe this still has to stay although it's been a while since I
looked into the TLS support for this stuff. It is probably the only
option these days. It would still be necessary on etch.

BTW Please email the packaging team list and not its members directly.
