Hi,

Update: when doing the same on a plain xterm, no problems. When doing 
the same on a gnome-terminal without transparency, no problem!

So, something going wrong with transparency on gnome-terminal?? I've 
used it for years, without any problems. I'm not running any kind of 
compositing, by the way.
