The nouveau crash problem should be investigated too. With the new glx
alternative system it should be possible to switch from nvidia to
nouveau without pulling too many strings manually. (xorg,conf and
/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-kernel-common.conf still need to be handled)

If you manage to reproduce the memory leak in a clean nouveau setup, we
can reassign the bug to xorg, but as long as some non-free bits are
involved, we can't do much about this problem.
