list of supported IDs

Hi all

I have been trying out the new glx-alternatives system and I am very
excited about it! It makes my live as a maintainer of a Debian Live
based distribution that also includes drivers for proprietary GPUs much

One thing I noticed is that there seems to be no file in the
[fglrx/nvidia]-glx packages with an easy to parse corresponding list of
supported IDs. This is needed in the init scripts of Debian Live based
systems so that the correct actions (calling "update-alternatives --set
glx <whatever>", creating a simple xorg.conf file, ...) can be made to
fully support the current GPU.

So far I just extracted the list of supported IDs of the fglrx driver in
the source file common/lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod/fglrxko_pci_ids.h and
for the nvidia drivers in the corresponding readme files and put them in
my own packages but this "solution" is very cumbersome, error-prone and
and makes upgrading the *-glx packages difficult.

So my first shy question is if there is already such a list in the
official packages and I just did not see it and if not, if there are
plans to add such lists.

Thank you very much and best regards
