Just to clarify: the test itself is working correctly, it just prevents
a non-interactive installation (since the default is "abort").
And exactly for this scenario I added the preseedability.

I'll mention in the description of the package that the debconf question
is "preseedable".

Here you probably mean "an incompatible card", since the packages should
install without any questions if no NVIDIA graphics hardware is
available at all.
