I don't follow Xorg development closely (or at all, really), but my
understanding is that at some point in the future,
xserver-xorg-video-modesetting is supposed to replace vendor-specific
DDX drivers, and I guess that change is being accelerated in Debian.
That's about all I know wrt xserver-xorg-video-intel. I don't think
primus actually depends on the Intel DDX (does it?), it's just that we
want to avoid users having PRIMUS_UPLOAD=0 set in their environment in
combination with them using the Intel DDX + UXA enabled.
