Package: nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx<br><br>Version: 173.14.25-2<br><br>Severity: normal<br><br>After I built the new kernel-module for 173.14.125-2, installed it and then went to install the new glx package synaptic wanted to install seven additional packages that I did not want nor need. I don't use dkms, nor do I want to. I do not need the nvidia-kernel-dkms package, it is only for GeForce 6xxx and newer cards, I have a GeForce 5xxx series, hence the use of the legacy-173xx packages. The same is true for the nvidia-vdpau-driver, which will provide the 195 series driver - useless for me and would mess up my system. The other three packages it wanted to install where the kernel headers packages. Linux-headers-2.6-686, linux-headers-2.6.32-5-686, and linux-headers-2.6.32-5-common. I am running a custom built kernel using version 2.6.32-15 and do not need older versions of the headers mucking up my system. I just needed to install the new version of nvidia-glx-legacy-173xx and since I had already installed the new kernel module, I had to download and install the glx package using my file manager, xfe. I usually use synaptic to do upgrades and installs, and have it set up the way I want it and didn't want to mess around changing it so I could just install the single package. Why did you change this to draw in all the new packages? They would just have messed up my system and are unnecessary, unless you use dkms and have that kernel version running. Thank you.<br>
