I think this is okay, although it is a maintenance burden for you.  At
any rate, in the Debian octplot package we gave up trying to compile
against the

No, your copyright notices are perfectly fine.  The problem with the
package approval was due to our sloppiness to describe (in the Debian
copyright file) the various license terms of the source files in OctPlot.

We do not need a new release, since the Debian package contains the
necessary patches.  If/when you make a new release, please announce it in
pkg-octave-devel, such that the DOG members will be aware of it.
