Well, I'm reluctant to introduce these patches before Shai (upstream)
has incorporated (or at least acknowledged) them.

Put the original tarball (from Sourceforge) right beside the
octplot-x.y.z directory and rename it with an underscore and a .orig in
its name:

$ ls -l
drwxr-xr-x 7 weber weber   4096 2006-10-09 21:58 octplot-0.3.9
-rw-r--r-- 1 weber weber 901836 2006-10-09 21:57 octplot_0.3.9.orig.tar.gz


Fixing Debian bug #391117 will require changes to the Makefile.am. [1]
Calling automake at build time is discouraged, so we will get a large
diff. Opinions?

[1] An alternative would be some dh_install magic, but that's not a fix
for upstream.
