This is normal and has nothing to do with the "undefined symbol" problem
you got.  What does the following yields in your system:

    ldd /usr/lib/octave/3.0.1/oct/i486-pc-linux-gnu/__glpk__.oct | grep glpk

and:

    dpkg -l libglpk0
