Before removing it, would you consider posting a message to the
help at octave.org list asking whether anyone (or group) would like to
start maintaining it?  Maybe the message should also go to the
maintainers at octave.org and octave-dev at lists.sourceforge.net lists.

OTOH, maybe we should just let it die and try to get more effort put
into the OpenGL-based graphics code for core Octave.
