Unfortunately, the error message is not informative enough and I doubt
that any of us will have time/motivation for debugging on sparc.  I would
suggest to let things as they now are until the end of the freeze and, if
octave-parallel will be a blocker for the migration, just request its
removal.  We can resurrect the package later.
